I really wanted to try these out, so I added them to an Artist's Choice box. I thought 14 B was going to be too dark, but these are actually lighter when compared to other brands of regular graphite pencils. It could be the finish. I tend to use a light hand, but I don't usually have to use so many layers to get the depth of color I want. I like the points, ease of sharpening, ease of use, assortment of shades.

These pencils are great for sketching, and I love that the resulting image is mat, The shine from ordinary graphite pencils make the images hard to photograph.

I love these matte finish graphite pencils, they're easy to shade with, they don't get glossy like regular graphite pencils, and they retain a reasonably decent sharpness while working. They're also easy to sharpen.
